Balancing Working From Home and Family Time at Home
Lately I have been guilty of spending too much time working at home. I have really wanted to grow my home businesses and that has been taking up a lot of my time during the day and it's not good. My main reason for wanting to work from home is so I can spend my whole day concentrating on and spending my time with my two precious boys. I dont know how I have lost sight of that. They are the most important thing in the world to me and as of today, I will be working less. I will still try to grow my business as much as possible but I am going to do less of the completely unneccessary things. I may even hire a virtual assistant soon. That is something I have wanted to do but felt like I couldn't afford but it looks like it may be something I need to do to help me balance my daily life. I am also going to completely stop working on weekends unless it is an ABSOLUTE necessity! I think everyone should really sit back and think about what working from home really means...I have realized it all too well today!

I've been struggling with this as well Amanda. I think many work at home moms do from time to time.
It's easy to get swept up in the success stories online and think "why not me? I cant do that" and then go crazy working on your business.
I know I certainly can. I've actually been dealing with a lot of mommy guilt over the time spent online and have FINALLY decided to get a lot of help from my two VA's then what I normally have them help with.
I'm going to take a large portion of my VA income and use that for my VA's to help build my passive income empire for me.
Heck I was even feeling WAY guilt about being sick - so sick that I couldn't spend too much time on the computer so now I'm backed up on my VA work. Crazy! I should allow myself to be sick and not feel guilty about something out of my control ;)
Lets face it even though we work at home doesn't mean that we can run businesses AND be mommy AND be wife AND me all the other things mommy has to be and do all of them well.
Something has to give and it shouldn't be the kids or hubby so I applaud you for realizing that what has to give for now is your business.
And if you hire a VA then that doens't even have to give. You can give them what you don't have time for.
That's the beauty about VA's. They can help run your business so that you CAN spend time with your family.
I'm happy to say that I am FINALLY going to take a vacation too. I haven't had time off of "work" since my maternity leave and hubby is taking time off in Sept. and so I'll be doing the same.
I wish you all the best with your business and say congrats for putting family first.
Nell
I really started feeling the guilt today and that is why I will put in about 2 hours tomorow morning then I am taking a trip for the weekend. My family and I need this time away! Thanks for your comments! I can soo relate to what you are saying! It would be so much easier for me to get a job outside the home and I would probably make 20xs the money..lol...with my currently useless Masters degree! :)
