Prolonging Baby's First Haircut

Ou son is 13.5 months old and has not had his first haircut. I really don't want to cut his hair because I think he looks cute but my husband insists on cutting our baby's hair soon.
So, what I want to know is when did your baby get his or her first haircut?
Who cut his or her hair?
Did you save a lock of their hair?

I did the same with my son. He is 4 now but he didn't get his first haircut until he was about 15 months. Everybody kept telling me to do it. Finally I did it but I did not keep a lock of his hair. The sad thing is when I look at pis of him, he really did look like a girl and probably should have cut it sooner. At the time I just didn't see it.
We had to cut our sons hair. It was so long it was going into his eyes and down his neck. He was born with tons of it.
We have given him several hair cuts ... he is 15 months old. We just gave him one about a month ago and he needs a trim again! lol
I hope we have a girl and she has Nicks hair cause it would be soooo long and pretty ;)
We just cut it ourselves. It isn't easy though ;)
On another end of the spectrum we cut our sons hair for the first time today. He is 19 months.
It was really a hard thing to do, but it feels like it was the right time. Our second child is due next week and it feels like we are finally letting go of our first child being our baby.
I will really miss those baby curls!
A sad papa
My third son is 20 months and I am in the sames situation. I don't want to cut his hair but I will be getting it cut this week. What I decided to do is: have our family pictures done then I will take many pictures of his hair (ie the back to see the length) and then I will have his hair cut. For his first cut I will go to my hairdresser and then I will cut his hair when I cut his brothers. I know it will change his look. He will look like an little boy not a baby.
I just cut our son's hair last week (at 21 months)-it was blonde, curly--I loved it! We got it cut and now he does look like a little boy and it makes me a little sad.
On the other end of the spectrum, I'm taking my 10mo old daughter for her 1st haircut this afternoon. I'm really sad to have to do it, but she has freakishly long hair (down to the middle of her back and past her nose!) and won't leave ponytails, barrettes, etc. in her hair. People often think she's a very small 2 or 3 year old, so it'll be nice to have her look like a baby rather than a slow, underdeveloped toddler! But I'm still sad....
I have such mixed feelings about my 16 mth old daughter's hair. It's wispy in the front, with wavy curls in the back. I give her a side sweep across her forehead, but it often looks messy. She WILL let me put a spout on the top or ponytails. I'm not sure about cutting bangs. I have thought about cutting long-ish bangs that would fall the way it looks when it's swept to the side - but I dont want her to have a mullet look. I want the truth - when you cut hair, a baby's hair... is it true that it grows faster?
My son's hair all fell out at 2 months old and he was almost bald for a while. Now it has slowly grown in at 15 months old (today). But its still very short and I can still see his scalp. Its surprising since I have very thick and fast growing hair, enough hair on my head for 4 people!
So I wouldn't be touching it for while even if I wanted to... however, I live by the beach in soCal and I like that long hair surfer look on little baby boys. heehee
So I won't be cutting it shorter than his shoulders, though neatly trimmed. I figure he has plenty of time until he starts grad school when he can get a haircut and look 'proper'.
Todays the BIG day for our son. He's 14 months and have lots of hair. His father dont believe in cutting the hair until 2 years old, but I am the one who have to do it every other day.... My son will look very different, but handsome with his hair cut
My baby is only 7 months and my husband insists that we get his hair cut. Everyone is telling me to do it. He doesn't have very much hair at all, but it just has random really really long hairs and then it's growing over his ears, but it's super straight. I dont' want to cut it. I don't see that it needs to be cut, but Im afraid later on I will look at pictures and wonder what I was thinking. I definantly want to keep some and put in his baby book. :)
We just cut our 10-month-old son's hair. It had gotten really long around his ears so it kind of flipped out. A few months ago, the hair on the top of his head kind of stuck straight up and I loved running my hand through it. In the past month, the front part grew so long that it lay flat while the back still pokes up.
Anyway, we used a trimmer & cut it all to 1/4 inch. I wish we had gone a little longer because he almost looks bald now.
Trimming it was hard - I held him while my husband cut and he would not keep his head still. He was always turning to try to see the strange buzzing thing was.
I really do not wantto cut my sons hair it is very curly at the back and its soooooo cute hes 13 mths and i know he will be my last child i already have 3 other teenage sons and i do not want to cut his hair as he will look like a little boy rather than mummys little baby angel,i know i know a little sad but the're not little long enough
