Last Soccer Game of The Season Photo

Our 4 year old had his last soccer game of the season last Wednesday. He had so much fun. At the end he got a plaque, his pictures, trading cards, and a medal. He was overjoyed! I've included a precious photo of him and his proud Daddy! Congrats little man!

Hey Amanda! So good to hear from you again. I thought I'd respond to your comment here, so we can both avoid the "troller" on our blog!

Normally I do not take sides or even comment on many of the topics on your blog because I'm not the type of person to get into such things. First of all I am not an activist. I dont protest anything ( atleast not actively because I honestly dont think anyone cares) and I have never been around anything like this not even on a college campus in which I currently reside. I do understand why people would protest McDonalds for all the reasons you mentioned above but why do you really protest? Does it make enough difference to justify the trouble you could get into or the problems that these demonstrations cause? Would you really want to go to jail over Mcdonalds?
I really hope I do not offend both of you. I am just trying to understand your life and point of view :)

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

No offence at all. As long as people aren't being insulting, we totally welcome differing points of view, and asking questions is the best way to learn! (I think that's why our daughter is always asking "what's that?") :)

Why do we protest? Well, we look back on history and see that every major positive social change has occured because people stood up and took to the streets. From women getting the right to vote, to blacks in america getting more rights after slavery, to ending the war in vietnam, to minimum wages, and children not much older than ours not having to work in mines and factories anymore. These changes did not occur because some enlightened leader said that it should be so. They occured because people who cared, stood up and shouted out!

We were pretty sure we wouldn't get arrested at that mcdonalds protest. We were just being noisy and handing out information politely to people. Almost everyone was really happy we were there! Our pal Danny is homeless and that is why he was, and still is targeted by the police (not very nice I know). He was arrested and beat up again early this morning for sleeping in an abandoned building!

Sometimes when we protest, there are risks involved, but we do it because people fought for our right to be able to do it. Sometimes I think rights are like our mucsles. If we don't excercise them...they get weak! Folks like you and me in other countries don't have the same right to speak out when bombs get dropped on their children, or when they have to work in slave like conditions...so we do it for them! We just see so much in common with the rest of humanity, that when one of us gets pushed around, we should all stand up and make a big fuss...cause we can!

Anyway, that's pretty much it for me. I hope I answered your question(s). If not, you are welcome anytime on our blog, we love sharing ideas and photos as our kids grow up!

Take care, and have fun getting ready for Halloween. We still don't know what Eabha will be :)
