Valentine's Day is over...

Well, Valentine's Day is over and I didnt get a chance to tell everyone Happy Valentine's Day so here is me saying Happy Late Valentine's Day to all of you.

After reading a few blogs yesterday, I found out that quite of few of you don't celebrate Valentine's Day and some of you do celebrate Valentine's Day. My husband and I are in the first group. We don't really participate in Valentine's Day! We aren't what you would call anti-valentine's day either! What I mean by this is that we don't go out and buy each other big expensive gifts to show our love for each other! We are married so of course we love each other! I agree with Kelly Rippa on the whole Valentine's Day idea! She said Valentine's Day is for "dating People". It's not for "married people". Exactly! We tell each other Happy Valentine's Day and that's about it!

Anyway, little man decorated his Daddy a cake for Valentine's Day and he made us cards! So, although we didnt really participate in Valentine's Day yesterday, we still had cake and ice cream.

Last night my husband and I were reminiscing of when we were younger and he was telling me about how he felt so pressured when we first started dating to get me an expensive gift for Valentine's Day. He said he felt like he had to compete with everyone else and what they were buying for their girlfriends. I'm so glad we are beyond that now! I wish more people would realize sooner that expensive gifts do not equal love and that spending time with the one(s) you love means so much more than any gift ever could!

Did you participate in Valentine's Day this year? If you did, did you feel pressured to buy an expensive gift?

I feel the same way you feel about Valentines day. I don't particularly care for it. My husband said it's a woman's holiday not a mans so he doesn't want anything, but he did get me flowers and a card, so that was sweet, just not necessary.

My 8 year old son said it best when griping about filling out Valentine's Day cards for his whole class

"Valentine's Day should be for Boyfriends and Girlfriends in College, not little kids or moms and dads"

I got hubby a card, and found a tin and covered it with red construction paper and hearts. Then I had a bunch of little notes I had written like I love you, You are a great Dad, 1 back rub, 1 foot rub, etc. I folded those in half and put them inside. So, he can pull one out each day. But, I don't really get into Valentines day. I got nothing! A card that he printed out at like 9:30 at night. Do I sound bitter? lol Dejuana

AWww well we are mushy, hopeless romantics. We do dinner in together, making something we both enjoy. We usually make our gifts for each other, do cards, flowers, and we buy a small gift and chocolates for my son. :) It's really a part of how we are. I don't think you have to buy gifts on Valentine's day? I don't get into that either but I don't think there is anything wrong with having an excuse to have a romantic evening together. :) We enjoy it! I find in marriage sometimes it's nice to have the push and the reminder to keep romancing your spouse. Obviously, that's super important and when kids come along... easy to forget!!! LOL...

Glad you survived the day!

My husband and I always celebrate Valentine's Day, but with a baby and trying to buy a house, we decided to keep gifts to a minimum. I got him a card and some nice local maps (my hubby is a map geek), and he actually made a card for me! It was so sweet, he printed a picture of my daughter and me for the front of the card, and wrote something sweet about how happy he is now that we're a family. I nearly cried, which is unusual for me. So while we celebrated the day, we kept it small. I think it's nice to remind your spouse that they mean a lot to you, even if prompted by a fake holiday.

Hi there, my name is Adrienne and I work with the Thymes. I am posting a comment because we're really excited about a new bath & body line that we're launching called the Sweetleaf Baby Collection. I would love to get the word out because it's an amazing product that all moms should know about.

Sweet and gentle, the Thymes Sweetleaf Baby Collection combines the delicate essence of babies with the soothing qualities of nature. A mild, organic blend of tranquil lavender and serene chamomile creates a soft scent that is fresh, clean, and completely irresistible. Composed of aloe vera and protective vitamin E, the collection contains only the finest of ingredients to care for tender, newborn skin. The Thymes Sweatleaf Baby Collection is dermatologist tested for mildness, formulated for sensitive skin and the Baby Wash & Shampoo is tear-free, pledging that baby’s eyes will be protected. The Thymes is also pleased to announce that the Sweetleaf Baby Collection is Paraben free - something that all moms should be aware of and begin using products that are made Paraben-free.

Here is a direct link (just cut and paste) to the home page for the new collection - I hope you will consider purchasing this for your newborn or someone else's precious little one. Thanks!
