Are you a Mom blogger or a Mommy blogger?
I feel like I am saying, Are you a good witch or a bad witch?
I had another post planned for today until I read about the Mommy/Mom blog wars going on. Kristen of Motherhood Uncensored, explains everything HERE. By the way, Kristen insists that she is a Mama blogger and that her opinion may not count..lol... She makes some excellent points on her mama blog.
Anyway, I guess I have been too busy to hear about this EXACT topic. However, I have been in an ongoing discussion lately about mommy cliques so I'm guessing this is going in the same direction.
Honestly, I had never thought of any of this until lately when I saw this behavior happening online. I didnt know so many moms acted like they were back in high school.
What I am wondering after reading all of this is which one is better? Do I want to be called a mom blogger or a mommy blogger? Or should I even care? My 5 year old son calls me mom and mommy depending on his mood and my 20 month old calls me mama. So I guess I am a hybrid...
Overall, I guess I am STILL not clear on the dinstinction between the two. Can someone fill me in? At the end of the day, does it even matter? Because, we are all, of course, the same.

I don't get all of this nonsense either. Mom blogger (older kids), Mommy blogger (younger kids), Woman blogger (all of us).
Not every day do we talk about our kids on our blogs. I think we are just women, who like to blog, who happen to have kids (who give us very funny stories to share and make us weak from their cuteness) :)
The debate continues! I am a mommy, mother, mom, mama, woman .... I refuse to cave to the labels...I am who I am if they like it or not!
HHHmmm. I read but I didn't get it. I am not sure what I am, but BUT, I am not a mom that wears a turtleneck. I have to admit that I let my world revolve around my kids to an extent. My kids mean everything to me but I dont think that I need to talk about them 24 hours a day and devote every waking minute to be the "Perfect Mom." I dont act much different then I would if I wasnt a mom. I guewss that means I would blog about anything???LOL I am so lost with this topic. But I do see the cliques when it comes to mommy blogs. I try to stay away from those and they are so obvious. Not everyone's blog I read is a Mommy....and some that are, don't even blog about their kids much. Also, like what was pointed out on your boards today....how do we know all bloggers are telling the truth and not just writing about an imaginary life?
Yikes.
I don't give a rip what others think of my blog. If they don't like it, they don't have to read it. As for if I'm a mom or a mommy LOL... DOes it matter what one calls themself? Those people really need to find something else to do! Who has the time to argue over that? LOL?
I would move on from those folks.
Just a thought.

Thanks for the comments. I now understand the differences a little better. I guess I mis-labeled myself..lol..So, where is the line drawn between mom and mommy bloggers. Some say mom bloggers are the ones that talk about more than just their kids..so who knows????
I think I focus alot here on myself as a mom and my kids but that is not the only role I play in my life. There is a WHOLE lot more to me than just being a mom. However, with that being said, my role as a mom probably defines me the most now...lol...I've lost myself...
My blog is boring (it's just basically an outlet/hobby for me), my kids drive me crazy (most of the time), my marriage isn't perfect (although we are still in love!). I try to keep up with the laundry, grocery shopping, field trips, carpooling and church and I also work the graveyard shift at Starbucks - so what am I? I work when everyone else sleeps. I think I'm just confused (and tired!) Thanks for the info and all the reading. I enjoyed clicking on the other sites and getting different view, too!
Wow. Im one confused mother blogger.
I am a mom. I blog. I confuse rather easily apparently.
Hehe. Hey there ~ Glad to see the topic continue. It really got me thinking when I read that initial post.
I'm still not sure what I think - but I'm sticking with my MAMA BLOGGER...
I honestly don't really care:P I am a mom and I just so happen to own a blog. I don't always talk about being a mom in my blog, so I don't really see this as a mom blog, rather just my personal online diary of sorts.
I think that people get labeled enough in life without adding anything else to it. I don't care what people call me mom, mommy or mama. I am all 3. I have been called all 3 by my kids. It honestly sounds to me like people who argue over this have WAY too much time on their hands. Don't you just want to scream GROW UP to some people?
I agree -- we need fewer labels, not more. I've got three kids and I'd like to think I'm a great dad, but I don't blog much about them.
I remember my mother telling us we could call her "mother" or "mom" but never "ma" and I remember just laughing at that.
You've got a great blog, whatever you call it!
i am a mom who blogs... meaning my blog is not for the sole purpose of my children... kwim? the crap i've seen about people... mostly males, making fun of mommy bloggers pisses me off... ya know? to each their own! i know someone that has a 'mommy blog' because he family is out of state and that's how they keep current on the baby! i just dont know why people are so anti-kid blogs...
i wouldnt worry about it though.. you have your readers... if we didnt like what you blog about... we wouldnt come here and we sure wouldnt blog roll you! so keep doing whatever you're doing!
I'm not sure which category I fit in....not that I care. I blog for me..NOT the little cliques that tend to form on the internet.
I'm with kilired - I'm a mom who blogs. And not always about mom stuff. I'm not crazy about the term mommyblogger for myself, if only because I think it gives people a certain impression which is misleading if you were to read my blog.
That said...I have no problem with anything anyone else wants to be called. And if you're confident enough in your own writing, there's really no need to belittle anyone else's. Don't like it? Don't read it. Not too hard to figure out.
I'm fairly new to the blogging game, so I haven't noticed these cliques just yet. I also think I'm too new to even begin to think what "category" I would fall into...new enough to wonder what it matters anyway? Like Mom101 said, if people don't like something, they shouldn't read it.
I am nervous though, sitting here typing away, wearing a turtleneck... :)
Does that indicate something other than a literal meaning??? Like I said, I'm new :)
