The Baby Crayon King Drawing on Walls!

Dear Internet,

My 21 month old child is obsessed with drawing. He will not stop drawing on our walls and various other items. I have tried removing all crayons out of his presence. I have started supervising him while he colors in his coloring book. However, the child is seriously obssessed and wants to color all hours of the day. When I put the crayons away, he screams to get them back down. Did I mention that he has superpowers too? He can smell a crayon from a mile away. He can find a crayon anywhere even when I thought I had gotten them all up and out of sight. What should I do? Help? By the way, do any of you know how to get large crayon marks off the walls without having to repaint the walls. The Mr. Clean Magic erasers only go so far and then they start to crumble :(

Here is that precious child. How could he? LOL

Here is some of the evidence: (Trust Me, it covers a large area!)

my daughter used to do the same thing... the magic eraser always worked for me but I've also heard of using a blow dryer, get the area really hot, it melts the wax, then wipe off. You could also try a toothbrush and toothpaste or W-D40. Good luck!!

That is a nightmare in itself. Buy TONS of Magic Erasers, because that is the only option that I know of without having to repaint.

And I hate to say it, but if you do repaint, you may have to put a primer down too :(

YIKES! I feel for ya!

Are you sure that isn't a picture of my den? It sure seems like it lol. I have used magic erasers too and they worked to a point and then stopped. So, if you find anything, let me know. We decided that we aren't repainting until he hasn't done it for a while. Boys will be boys! All I can say is we always tell our boy, Good thing you are so cute! I think it applies to yours too! lol

My 21 month old has this same power. She freaks when crayon is around and can't have it. Freaks. I wish I had some advice... but I don't.

Since we bought an easel for our toddler she seems to stick to that. We got a great one for $20 at Ikea. We also bought a HUGE roll of paper and she likes to draw on that!

thos magic erasers ARE wonderful! don't they make you want to clean the whole house? i love using them on my fridgerator and in my stainless sink... makes it shine!
my oldest drew on my parents wall in their dining room and because it was his actual first picture... i think a smile face, they never erased it... i need to take a pix of it!

hmmmm...at least he used crayon, and not permanent marker (as my daughter did). His pictures are fantastic though!!! Have you given any thought to the childproof paint? It's a touch on the expensive side, but EVERYTHING comes off it with a little soap and water :)

I think you are lucky - you have these pictures of his art, I really wish I had pictures of what my kids did to my walls :( It might be a pain to clean, but they're memories, right?

Wow. We've been teaching Cordy that she has to be sitting to use her crayons. If she gets up, she loses them.

You're already using the Magic Eraser, which was my first idea. Also, they make washable crayons that are easy to clean off.

You could also repaint with paint designed to take things like this. Oh, and they make blackboard paint too - you could paint a small area with that, and then let him draw on it with chalk - it wipes right off!

I would flip out LOL... Brax did that once in my old place but not that much. I was able to get it off enough. SORRY!!

Whoa! I can't believe so many moms let their kids do that. Mine would be in so much trouble. All I know is the magic eraser. Tyler had done that once and I didn't know about the eraser and I had to scrub and scrub for like an hour and it still didn't get it completely off. It was a small spot too. Good Luck!

A friend of mine just put paper up all over and it was the rule that her daughter had to crayon on the paper and if not, she had to be in a timeout.

Holy crap - you weren't lying. I don't like those Mr. Clean things. They took the paint off my wall. Anyway, are the crayons washable? You should just be able to use a little soap and water. As for getting him to stop - good luck! Can you turn him on to something else? Has he experienced the joy of sidewalk chalk?

I tried goo gone and a paper towel, it takes off crayon. It doesn't do so good with permenant marker though.

wow...that is some art work there..I like the magic eraser but it does take off some paint..and in response to Tasha's response..we don't let our kids "do" that..none of us are way happy when it happens..it is just nature for kids to create chaos until they get the full idea that it isn't a good idea to mess with others stuff..

My daughter (23 months) also can smell a crayon from a mile away! I to had beautiful pictures on my walls! Here's how I got it off...
Get a bowl & fill it with water
put some Lava (hand soap) shavings in the bowl, and then put the bowl into the microwave for a min or two.
Finally get a washcloth and start scrubbing.
