Homeschooling?
We are seriously considering homeschooling. Our son turned 5 last week and the closer we get to him being school age and potentially starting Kindergarten in August, the more we are leaning towards homeschooling. Hubby and I have talked about this for the past few days and I am so glad we agree on homeschooling. We are both very enthusiastic about it. However, lately we have had so many friends, family members, and other random people that are less enthusiastic about it. We have heard replies such as, "You can't do that!", "Your child will be socially retarded!", "Your child won't get the socialization he needs.", or the best one yet, "Are you sure you are qualified to teach him?". Um..yeah...I have an MBA, my husband will have MA soon, and a PHD a few years after, so yes we are definitely qualified!! We have heard a few more too but the most common complaint is the socialization one. Well, in my opinion, the type of socialization that one gets at school is NOT the type of socialization I want my children to have. I'm sorry but I don't care if my child doesn't get to be prom king, or doesn't get to witness all the fights, bomb threats, bullying, name calling, forced learning, etc..that all the other children get to experience. I know in reading this that you are thinking that I am only writing about the negative social experiences. Well, I can provide the positive ones for my child just as well as a school can so that is the only reason I am bringing out the negative ones! Socialization is all up to the parents. Homeschooling suits us for now. As far as the type of homeschooling we will be doing, I'm not completely sure but I have been doing research. We are leaning towards child-directed and unschooling. I am definitely considering finding a homeschooling support group very soon whether it be online or local. What are you ideas about homeschooling? Are you considering it? Do you homeschool? If you do, why? If not, why?

| Thirteen Things/Ramblings about this week
1.) On Monday, my little man turned 5. Wow! Time with him has gone by so fast! I don't want him to grow up. 2.) On Tuesday, my darling husband turned 29. Happy Birthday Sweetheart! 3.) Both little man and hubby chose chinese for their birthday dinners. Imagine that! They didn't want me to cook...lol... 4.) During a shop trip this week ( there was a huge clothing clearance), our 19 month old had a full blown tantrum. 5.) While checking out, I couldn't find my debit card or checkbook. I finally found them. One was in the car, the other was at a restaurant... 6.) During a shopping trip the day after, our 19 month old was completely content. Wonder why? I gave him a big red ICEE...Yum! 7.) Little man has his 5th birthday party on this coming Saturday and I'm not even close to being ready for it. I can't find any sea creature decorations or party favors. I'm thinking we will have to end up going with a mix between Finding Nemo and some homemade sea creature characters. 8.) Little man learned basic math today. He learned to add single digits. He completed two pages in his workbook. When did your child learn basic math? I'm just wondering if mine is early, late or right on time? 9.) My husband started actual work this week. Wow, it's been a while since he has had to work outside the home..but it's only for 10 hours per week so that's not too bad. 10.) Both of my boys have been SUPER clingy this week. I have given them the sharing( I am only one person, they must share me..lol...) speech. It's not working! 11.) My husband bought me a new computer case and some other new computer goodies and it was his birthday! He spent most of the day today working on my computer. He really is wonderful. 12.) Our 19 month old has learned so many new words this week. One of which is not very nice! 13.) I havent had much time for blogging this week. Has anyone missed me? lol...

McDreamy or McSteamy or even McBomb...
Ok, from my title alone you would know I'm a huge Grey's Anatomy fan...that is if you are among the millions that tune in each Sunday night... Tonight's episode was amazing as usual...I'm speechless...wow...the ending... My question is who do you think is hotter and why? McDreamy (Patrick Dempsey) or McSteamy (Eric Dane)? Hey, I'm even going to give you a choice of McBomb (Kyle Chandler, you know that HOT bomb squad guy that got blown up...). I headed over to the Grey's Anatomy message boards after the show since my boys were asleep and all was quiet. Some of the discussions there really make me laugh! I go there just to read what all the fan's have to say...it's quite entertaining! One user said this in reference to McSteamy, "I think he just gave me a spontaneous "episode"...lol... So here I am all excited over Grey's Anatomy..Do y'all even watch Grey's Anatomy?

Valentine's Day is over...
Well, Valentine's Day is over and I didnt get a chance to tell everyone Happy Valentine's Day so here is me saying Happy Late Valentine's Day to all of you. After reading a few blogs yesterday, I found out that quite of few of you don't celebrate Valentine's Day and some of you do celebrate Valentine's Day. My husband and I are in the first group. We don't really participate in Valentine's Day! We aren't what you would call anti-valentine's day either! What I mean by this is that we don't go out and buy each other big expensive gifts to show our love for each other! We are married so of course we love each other! I agree with Kelly Rippa on the whole Valentine's Day idea! She said Valentine's Day is for "dating People". It's not for "married people". Exactly! We tell each other Happy Valentine's Day and that's about it! Anyway, little man decorated his Daddy a cake for Valentine's Day and he made us cards! So, although we didnt really participate in Valentine's Day yesterday, we still had cake and ice cream. Last night my husband and I were reminiscing of when we were younger and he was telling me about how he felt so pressured when we first started dating to get me an expensive gift for Valentine's Day. He said he felt like he had to compete with everyone else and what they were buying for their girlfriends. I'm so glad we are beyond that now! I wish more people would realize sooner that expensive gifts do not equal love and that spending time with the one(s) you love means so much more than any gift ever could! Did you participate in Valentine's Day this year? If you did, did you feel pressured to buy an expensive gift?

I have an Iron Chef Fan!
Ok, so this is a bit weird... Lately my oldest son, who will be five years old in a few weeks, has gotten an addiction to the Food Network TV show Iron Chef. I have no idea why or even how he came upon this channel. But he absolutely adores it! We watch it together a few nights a week if he stays up long enough to watch it. I have to admit that I have begun liking it too… I have come to the conclusion that this child of mine is eccentric. He does so many weird & strange things. But, again, aren’t all children this way before they are molded by society? Isn’t that why childhood is so wonderful? I hope he continues his ways as he grows up…

Mean Mommy Needs Help
lol... My 4 year old (Little Man) soon to be 5 year old in 2 weeks has turned into a little meany in the last two days. I don't know what is going on. I understand the occassional misbehaving but not daily all day long where it never stops and it hasn't stopped for two days and I'm going crazy... I know it's all about his baby brother. Little man thinks he can play with and aggravate baby man like he is his age. I'm terrified that the baby (baby man) who is 19 months old will get hurt again since he recently just had stitches! Yesterday when I told little man to stop he didn't listen so I told him to go to time out. Well he decided he wasn't going to time out either and had a major screaming meltdown (I'm sure many of you know EXACTLY what I'm talking about and if not HELP me). So we took his favorite toy away as punishment for a week. Today was the same. I feel like all I have been saying all day is don't do this, don't do that, stop it, your getting ready to go to time out, etc, etc... Now I'm just tired. I hope this comes to an end soon. I wish I wasn't so uptight about our baby man but I'm so afraid that he will get hurt. He enjoys his big brother so much and he laughs and plays right along with little man most of the time. It's just that I'm afraid that one of them will end up getting hurt. I also never thought that a 19 month old and a 5 year old wouldn't get along. I figured that was reserved for the older years..lol...I guess not.. Advice? Nah, forget I asked..I dont need advice..I'm afraid of what I might hear... A question for you...How many of you have gone through this?

WAHM
I am so thankful to be a WAHM. If you don't know what a WAHM is, it's a Work at Home Mom. I've been working from home since 2003. In the last 6 months I finally started taking my work at home business much more seriously and it has paid off tremendously! Last month was my best month ever and I made more than I ever imagined myself making at home. I am so thrilled and I wanted to share my happiness with everyone. The best part is that it can only get better! I'm not sure if I will be able to work at home forever since advertising on the Internet is always changing and a volatile industry but for now I'm doing great! What is one thing you have been thankful for or excited about recently? If you could be a WAHM would you?

Baby in snow
Well our baby isn't really a baby anymore. I guess since he is 19 months he is officially considered a toddler but to me he is still a baby. Today was our baby's first day in the snow ever! He loved it! He laughed and laughed and put his hands all in it then he put his face into the snow. It was precious! What an amazing memory to cherish! I remember when our 4 year old was first in the snow. He wasn't even old enough to walk so he crawled all in it.

Our 4 (soon to be 5 this month) year old really enjoyed the snow today too. Today was his first time of going down a sled alone. The last time he went sledding was when he was a little over 2 years old.
We all had lots of fun in our first "real" snow (about 2 inches) of the winter today. Hubby sled with our two boys while I took all of the photos! We had such a great time! I am so thankful for these moments...and my precious family...

Have you had snow yet? If not, do you want snow? Do you remember your baby's first snow? ----------------------------------- Baby Photo Contest & Mom Contests Toddler Blog

Stitches, Disney on Ice, and Batman Begins!
I've tried to sit down and write a blog entry since I got home Tuesday evening but haven't really had the time nor the inspiration to do so. It seems like every time I start to write, I have to get up and do something else...lol... Anyway, The title of my post is a combination of stuff that our family has been involved in since last weekend (I'm sure you'll figure that out though :) ) Below is my story. Keep in mind, I'm not a very good storyteller...you will have to bear with me on this one... We went out of town last Thursday so that we could take our 2 boys, ages 4.5 and 19 months, to see Disney on Ice and to visit with family ( the in-laws). We arrived late Thursday evening. As our boys were getting ready for bed with mamaw & papaw, hubby and I decided to watch a movie. Well a few minutes into Batman Begins, I heard our 19 month old start screaming! I ran into the bedroom and our 19 month old had hit his head somehow on the closet door and split his forehead open. Blood started squirting everywhere and I started freaking out! Our 4.5 year old was freaking out too as well as hubby as soon as he saw it! We rushed him to the ER after we controlled the bleeding. After a long enough wait in the ER, the doctor put in 10 stitches. Having my helpless crying baby held down for 30 minutes while trying to put in stitches really really bothered me. It was worse than seeing the blood squirt out of his head. But we got through it and got home by 3am on Friday morning. Friday was spent just sitting around watching the kids play and making sure our 19 month old was okay. We went to Disney on Ice on Saturday. Both of our boys LOVED it! Our 19 month old clapped the whole time. Our 4.5 year old was mesmerized! Hubby and I enjoyed it too! We spent the rest of the weekend and up until Tuesday morning doing pretty much nothing except play with our boys! When I wasn't playing, I was reading a book. I actually finished reading a book and was able to finish watching Batman Begins. Bye the way( off the subject..but...), Batman Begins was a great movie. My favorite Batman movie yet! Christian Bale was amazing as Batman and CillianMurphy was perfect as the Scarecrow. Ok, so enough about my weekend. Friday is here again and it's the beginning of a new weekend. My son's stitches come out in less than an hour from now. I just hope this experience is better than the last... Has your child ever had stitches or anything else that required a trip to the ER?
