I'm Not Potty Trained But I Sure Can Rhyme
Our 2 year old son has been surprising us a LOT lately with his new found skills.
He spends several hours sitting quietly talking to himself and just drawing. Yesterday he drew the most perfect happy face. Well, perfect to me since I am his Mother.
He's also been rambling on about rhymes. He talks incessantly about something rhymes with something else. For example, yesterday I caught him saying, "Hammer rhymes with bammer and Spongebob rhymes with kungebob". And, sometimes he makes up words like "kungebob" but they do seem to rhyme nonetheless.
At first I thought he was merely copying his older brother until he started making up his own rhymes.
When our other son was this age, he didn't seem to be too interested in rhyming or drawing. He spent a lot of time with puzzles, cars, and play tools.
It's amazing how different two siblings can be.
Hey, maybe I'm that Mom who thinks her kid is special even when everything is just NORMAL and I'm sure I'll continue thinking that for the rest of my life because that's what Mommies do.
Soooo, What are your 2 year olds doing? Is this a result of having an older brother?Labels: 2 year old, drawing, rhymes, toddler

For me, everything Julia does is extraordinary, but she is likely just a normal kid. It's a mom thing.
Right now, Julia is really into reading books and telling stories. She has a wild imagination and spends a lot of time being other things, like cats or dogs or trains. She likes puzzles and drawing, but imaginary play is her big focus right now and I just love it.
I find Becca has her strengths and weaknesses ... she is an amazing book lover, can spend up to an hour and a half "reading" books on her own! Then she will come and ask to be read to and we could read all day...
I LOVE THIS STAGE! :)
