Transition To Toddler Breath

Every morning when my 2 year old wakes up and wants to get out of bed, he yells "Mommy!" I know that is my cue to go and pick him up or else he will yell at the top of his lungs until I get there and will not crawl out of the bed on his own.
After picking him up and bringing him into the living room this morning, I noticed something different. Something, um, stinky...
When did my toddler's sweet baby breath turn into repulsive morning breath?
Did you notice when your toddler made the transition from angelic breath to monster breath?
*Oh, he's so not gonna like me for this entry when he gets older. :)Labels: baby breath, morning breath, motherhood, toddler

LOL! Oh how I remember those days! Just wait until your "little one" goes through the "I don't want to take a shower/bath" stage. They get it at about 10-11 yrs. old. Soooo frustrating!

I noticed this with John M, and it wasn't too long ago, maybe a couple of months ago. That's when I figured I had to be better about brushing his teeth on a regular basis!
I can't smell anything due to my own overpowering morning breath. It could melt glass.
By the way - you can absolutely send in your son's photo for photo of the month at my place! It'd be great!
My little girl used to have such band breath and we realized one day that it was when she drank too much orange juice.
She used to take a drink to bed at night but now she has water or nothing and no bad breath! :-)
Better hide this entry once he is old enough to read! *LOL*
I think it happened about the same time as he started eating meats. It was a similar issue when he reduced his breastfeeding, which was the precurser to when his poopy diapers started stinking.
LOL!!! HILARIOUS. I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE. I TELL YOU THE OTHER DAY I SAID WHOA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT'S HOW BAD IT WAS. HAHAA...
I just noticed yesterday. I went to google to see if it was normal and came across your blog.
It happened to my angel too.
She was 21 months old. I was shocked, traumatized. I thought it was because of a strong cold she got from a cleaning lady. Then it persisted, and I thought that it was, despite my efforts to avoid it, because of having food from other adults sometimes (bacteria transfer in the saliva traces, I thought). I was paranoid with this situation. Now I read this and I think maybe it was unavoidable anyway...
However, it only happens in the morning or after a nap. Brushing doesn't avoid it, but after brushing and eating and brushing again it goes away. Sometimes her dad gives her unsweetened mint chewing gum and it helps but I prefer to find another solution.
