What Are Some of Your Favorite Vacation Books?

In less than 30 days, I'll be going on vacation. Every May we take a week's vacation to the beach and this year I really want to relax. I don't want to bring my laptop along although something tells me it's going to be tagging along (mostly for the hubs work). Relaxing for me is reading a good book in the warm sun with my toes in the sand.
And, I need your help. What are some of your new favorite books? What do you recommend that I take along? I'd have to say my favorites are Dean Koontz, Patricia Cornwell, and James Patterson.
However, I'm open to all types of fiction and non-fiction.
I also hope you will help me do something else. I talked yesterday about these fun giveaways and today one of them has started. Go over to AMomsReview.com and enter the Fruity Cheerios Giveaway.Labels: favorite mom books

Aaahhh good books, toes in the sand, warm sunshine... we are blessed to live near the beach!!!
As for recommendations Val McDermid is a GREAT author my favourite is 'The Killing Shadows' and also Tess Gerritsen writes a thrilling story, both 'The Surgeon' and 'The Apprentice' are great books - that is if you are into psychological thrillers! Another very sweet story is 'Not All Tarts are Apple' though I can't remember the author!!!
Have a fab vacation and let us know if you read anything good - I am sick of set books for Essays and could do with a good read!
It's sad that I don't really have any books to recommend! I read so many parenting books - I need to read for pleasure for often. Let me know if you come across something great!
I read lots of chick lit books while traveling - the types of books you buy in an airport (but don't buy them there, so expensive!) and don't mind getting rid of when you land. A quick, fun read. Of course at this moment I can't think of anyone except Jane Green.
Every summer I pick a classic and take it along on vacation. Doesn't matter if I read it for lit class, I've discovered that it has new meaning now that I'm older. It's challenging sometimes because it takes a little more focus than today's fiction. But, it's rewarding. I read "Little Women" a couple of summers ago, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Ever read Kate Chopin's "The Awakening"? Emotional read for mothers. Hope you enjoy your selection!
I usually read chick lit or biographys but I've just discovered a great author for escapism holiday reading - Lee Child. He always writes about the same male character, Jack Reacher, a great hero type, you just can't put the books down!
Here's a good list of late summer vacation reads:
