I'm About To Embarass Myself...

A couple months ago I was looking for some new(er) music to exercise to and dance to , you know during my bathing suit frenzy phase, by the way, I think I'm over that. Anyway, I came across some music from Akon. I know! Gasp! Imagine that, a mom of two listening to Akon. I'll go and hide now. :) Before "I wanna love you" (also known as something you don't really want to read here) & "Don't Matter" and the "The Sweet Escape" with Gwen Stefani I did not know who he was. Well, anyway, I liked the beat so I started listening to more of the songs. I even let my 2 year old bop his head to the beat a couple of times. Of course, I had the censored lyrics. Go ahead and give me Mother of The Year for that, OK?
Now with the recent controversy surrounding Akon involving a 14 year old girl at a concert,I'm no longer sure about listening to his music. If you haven't heard you must be living in a hole or actually have a life that does not involve reading TMZ.com at some point during your busy week like myself. Seriously.
What do you think? Should sponsors pull the plug? Should those of us that listened to his music purely for exercise value give it up? Will Gwen Stefani (also a mother) still go on tour with him? Or is this all a misunderstanding/publicity stunt of some kind and we really have no freaking clue as to what really happened? Yes, I've seen the video. Oh yeah and I'm sure you all have much better things to worry about than this. I'm just a wonderin' over here...

i actually love Akon... but after this fiasco, i'm also ashamed a little that I liked him.... because i think what he did was just tasteless...
and just plain wrong!
I don't know. The whole controversy leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Then again, I still listen to Michael Jackson. Sometimes music is good enough to stand alone without the artsist's image getting in the way.
