I'm Probably an Alpha-Beta Mix Mom!
Or maybe I'm neither. If you are in the dark about what an alpha or beta(slacker) mom is then go to this article to get caught up on all this drama & labeling!
Sometimes I think I'm like an Alpha mom and it would appear that I am because
Most of my life is digital, I'm tech savvy, I'm connected to the internet most of the day and I go to sites and blogs for advice.
I'm educated
I run a business online
I spend most of our household money
I feel like everything should be perfect for my kids
One thing I do agree on is this quote from the CBS news website and I think all moms, not just alpha moms, would do this:
"Smith learned that researchers believe that if you satisfy an Alpha Mom, she'll tell 10 other women. And if you dissatisfy her, she'll tell 300".
Then other times I'm a big slacker also known as beta mom
I feed my kids junk food
I let my kids watch Spongebob & tons of other movies while I do necessary work and by necessary work I do not mean clean the house, I mean a job that puts food on our table (and what is wrong with that? I mean, SERIOUSLY?).
We don't do playgroups
I prefer to let my boys play in the yard instead.
I don't feel it's necessary to throw my kids into every extracurricular activity coming and going.
I'm relaxed most of the time and although I do worry about doing everything in my power to raise good children, I don't go overboard and I'm not over the top on everything that involves my children or how I parent them. I know I can't be a Supermom.
And, now that I'm getting down to the end of this entry, I realize that none of this labeling really matters anyway. All that matters is that I love my children, support them and who they are as individuals, teach them, be the best I can for them, and spend my time with them. Because all we really have is time and memories.Labels: alpha mom, beta mom, marketing to moms, slacker mom

OOOOOOO! I think I am like you, a little of both! Is there REALLY a perfect mom? I don't think so. Even the moms I know that think they are so great aren't perfect! You can't be a Supermom! Just do the best you can and the rest will fall into place.
My problem, I put my kids in front of finishing school and starting a career. I try to put them in things and give them all I got but at the same time I have my moments. Sometimes I feel like I am not a good mom. I have little patience and a bad temper. So I love my kids and give them everything I can but I am also really strict.
umm... maybe I need to make a post like this because I could go on forever!
P.S. I entered that cheerio contest but I don't think I followed directions. My husband fed the kids all the cheerios before I came up with a good pic. I didn't know I was supposed to be in it! Oh well!
I am a lot like you, although Julia is involved in a lot of extracirricular activities. Kindermusik, Kindergym, Story Time, Swim Class, Jumpercize, Dance Class, T-ball....we do it all. It works for us. It gets us out of the house and interacting with the rest of the world. Otherwise, Julia would think she's the only kid on the planet.
You have been helpful to us. Parents have to be tech savvy to survive today. You inspired us to start a blog to help other parents with issues they might encounter.
Thanks!

Well said little momma. All that matters is that you love your children.
I think it would be weird to be completely one or the other! We like to stay busy and we head out to playdates a lot, but I am so not perfect all the time.
We do organized sports but not playgroups...
Tasha, yeah you should write about it. I know how you feel. :)
Leslie, wow. You all do a lot. See, I couldn't do all those things. I simply don't have the time since I do my business FT now.
Parentingblog, I'm glad I've been helpful and your welcome!
Stephanie, thanks so much!
Chelle, I'm not even close to perfect!
