Kindergarten Through The Eyes Of A Child
Here are a few quotes as said by our new kindergarten boy.
I asked my son about the most important thing he has learned so far in Kindergarten. His response, "To sit down and zip your mouth". Nice! He's turning into a robot already.
While picking up FB from school his teacher said he had gotten into trouble that day so I asked my son what he got into trouble for. His response, "Laughing". Another Nice! We teach our kids from birth that laughter is a natural, wonderful emotion and that laughter really is the "best medicine" and when the kids go to school they are taught to suppress these emotions because it's too noisy. I wonder if this is why so many kids are depressed/anxious these days????
Maybe we should have homeschooled. I know, it's not too late but other than the "frikkin' rules" everything is going great and our son is so excited about school.Labels: kindergarten, motherhood, motherhood fears

Mine is starting Pre-K in less than a week, and this is just the kind of stuff that I'm worried about!
that would upset me, too. :( a child shouldnt be told they cant laugh or wiggle around in their seat.
Oh man. I hate it when this happens. And, it always does... Just ruins everything. My Mom never liked teachers, no matter how nice they were, because they were always trying to make people conform.
I worry about this, too. Julia is a real free spirit. I've tried to encourage her to express herself - that what she thinks and says matters and that laughing is good. Life should be filled with laughter. I worry that she'll go to school and the things that make her so wonderfully amazing are the things they'll try to discourage. It's a real challenge. I'm glad he's excited about school, though. It sounds like the positive is outweighing the negative right now.
Kids go to school to learn and have fun at the same time. Unfortunately, some parents and educators forget the fun part. Kids learn better when they are having fun learning.
Happy Child
aww Sorry to read that all is not well. I am glad he is enjoying it :)
Maybe he was laughing cause someone got hurt? Or beause someone got in trouble, thats not laughter, thats being mean.
No, he was laughing from playing with his friends at play center time. It was considered too loud and then once out in the hallway while on break.
