Crickets + House = Hell

Two days ago I noticed a cricket in our house. I killed it. All was fine and life went on. Yesterday I killed more than one cricket inside our house. Then the unthinkable happened. I came across 4 more crickets IN THE FREAKIN' house and one of them jumped towards me. It wouldn't be so bad if these crickets didn't look like a spider and were limited to the laundry room. But, NO, these cricket/spider (spickets as I like to call them for their spider like qualities) were randomly jumping around our living room.
I am not embarrassed to admit that bugs get to me. They cause me to start hyperventilating. There are very few things in my life so far that I cannot handle. Spiders, bugs, snakes, and bodies of water are among the things that cause me to "lose it".
So, what's a girl to do when crickets have invaded? You Google them. And, you know what I learned? We have a cricket invasion. Ya think? So I started thinking about how these crickets got in here and the only way I can think of is through a box of Christmas lights that I got from our storage building that is in fact filled with crickets on most occasions. I immediately threw all the boxes back outside. So far we have no more crickets. I think I may be ok and not ready to move out of this house... that is until I see another cricket. Maybe we need to get a cat.
Got any cricket ridding tips/solutions for me? Anyone else out there ever have this problem? Tips on how to keep me sane are welcome to. ;)Labels: crickets

We had the same problem when we first moved into our house and I didn't know what the heck they were! They loved our bathroom and I realized they were getting in from a crack in the floor...needless to say we fixed the crack and don't have anymore problems! :)
Glad to know you have gotten rid of them too!
I don't know much about crickets. We've been under ladybug attack here. I suck them up with the vacuum cleaner hose.
I hope your crickets are gone for good!
I think they're cute. LOL We have lady bugs too...I let them stick around. I scouped up a spider today and let him go free. There are some bugs that get to me and some spiders (the one I let go was a cute little guy. lol) but over all my son and I love bugs, frogs, toads, turtles, and all that fun nature stuff.
I found your blog through topsite/blogflux. I have to tell you that I couldn't be any happier. Not only is your blog a delight to read, but you solved the "What the hell were those giant jumping gliding dinasour like striped bug" things jumping around my sister in laws cabin a few months ago. We saw them while trying to have a girls get-away weekend, complete with drinking wine and watching John Cusack movies. It ended up with us packing up and driving back to our houses itching and gagging all the way. We tried googling our hearts out to describe these bugs so we could show the guys pictures so that they would believe us. I am itching just reading your blog. God bless you for having to LIVE with these things. I hope they are gone for good!!!!! - Melyni 22yrs old Pennsylvania.
To everyone who commented, thanks!
And I'm happy to announce that they are GONE. Thankfully! I was sure I was going to have to move out! :)
