Santa Is Fake And He Doesn't Care
We left the boys with their grandparents (the in-laws) for 2 days after Christmas so that Hot Daddy and I could celebrate our 9th anniversary sans kids. While we were chowing down on fast food and watching way to many movies ( What? You mean this isn't what you are supposed to do while alone on your anniversary), our 3 year old learned the truth about Santa Claus.
Yesterday evening Baby Picasso came up to me and said while giggling, "There's no such thing as Santa Claus. Santa is fake." He went on to say that his Daddy was Santa. What's funny is that he doesn't care and I'm kind of sad. Heck, Future Bam still believes and he's 6 1/2 years old.
Someone is in trouble for breaking the news. I just don't know who...

You mean I'm not the only one who likes to spend special evenings parked in front of the tv with food?
My daughter cracked me up this Christmas when she caught me putting out the stockings. She's 10, suspecting there was no Santa (we live in the country :0) but wanting to believe.
My kids have waffled through the years, it's been kind of a joke as they got older. Maybe he will forget next year, or the Christmas spirit will coax him into playing along.
My daughter did manage a bite out of Santa's cookie this year, I guess there are perks.

awww that is so sad. Becs is still about the magic of it all. I too hope he forgets by next Christmas or gets swept up in it all.
One year when I was very small, my grandfather (on my dad's side) told my cousin and I that there was no Santa Claus. My Aunt, who is one powerful woman, had a "talk" with him. I'm not sure exactly what happened, but he ended up coming back and telling us he was wrong and that there was in fact a Santa.
Hopefully your boy will forget by next year. Christmas isn't nearly as fun without Santa!
happy anniversay. glad you got to spend it with you hottie...alone.
i'd be peeeved if somebody told my little ones Santa wasnt real. :(
My younger one believed for much too long (His autism was a factor). Just when we thought we had him convinced of the truth, he heard "Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus" on public radio. And you know, if you hear it on public radio, it must be true.
What I dont get is that we adults teach our children not to lie because it is wrong and yet from the get go some do nothing but lie to their children. Later only to guess what went wrong.
why should a parent teach a child that any form of lies are good
Happy Anniversary!
On Santa, I think it is a wonderful idea to provide magic in our young children's lives. After all they are only young once. Children grow up and discover the truth from a classmate, relative, etc. but most are not resentful towards their parents. They do not consider it telling lies.
Some people do not allow their children to believe in Santa, the Toothfair or the Easter Bunny but that is their preogative. Each of us will raise our children how we see fit. If annonyomous believes this would harm his/her child(ren)it's ok. Children all over the world celebrate without Santa every year...Hanukkah, Kwanza, etc.
Me? I love preserving the "magic". Snow White is 8 yrs old and still fully believes in Santa. Since your little boy is so young maybe he will forget by the time Christmas comes again. I think Snow White will catch me playing Santa in a year or two but until then..Ho!Ho!Ho!
