Last Night's Premiere of Grey's Anatomy...
So, most of us probably watched right? I mean, really, how many people out there aren't addicted to this show? Wait, don't tell me. I prefer feeling like I'm not the only GA addict mommy blogger. Ok, actually I know I'm not alone. Don't pretend you weren't drooling over GA being back. :) Anyway, on to the premier episode. There are spoilers below so don't read on if you haven't watched yet. First of all let me say I was a bit disappointed and I missed Burke kind of. Didn't you? I was hoping for the fireworks from last year's season premiere. But it wasn't there. Boo hoo. Not that it really matters that much because it's Grey's Anatomy and even the not so great episodes are better than anything else I've ever watched on TV. I think. Maybe, just maybe, Party of Five and Dawson's Creek were better way back when. Right now Lost & Brothers & Sisters are right behind and tied for 2nd place. At least for me anyway. I also liked October Road but I might forget it even existed if they don't hurry up and bring it back. So far, I've not found one new show that I actually like enough to sit down and watch. Anyone else? My favorite part of the show was when McSteamy professed that he came to Seattle to get Derek back. Ha! And, when George told Izzy he loved her. I imagine most of you hated that part. Like that wasn't going to happen, right? So what did you think? Did last night's premiere meet your expectations? Labels: Grey's Anatomy
So, Did You Like Private Practice?
Sitting down to watch Private Practice, I expected it to be like Grey's Anatomy. Unfortunately it was not. The realness, the music, and the emotion just wasn't there like in GA. Maybe I shouldn't have expected as much. Of course, Private Practice did have some good, if not over the top parts, one of them being the male eye candy specifically Tim Daly ( who is over 50 years old bye the way- It's so not fair that men look better at 50 than women) but I'm not sure that's enough to keep me watching. Something about this show just didn't stick with me so it's not a show I would remember to watch every Wednesday night unless I really had nothing else to do. PP is not a show I would look forward to and plan for like, for instance, tonight's season premiere of Grey's Anatomy. I'm so excited about GA starting back up that I feel abnormal. Seriously. ;) How about you? * If you commented on yesterday's go-gurt giveaway post then you won. I've been able to contact almost all of the winners except one or two (can't find a contact email) so if you haven't heard from me and you blogged about it and left a comment yesterday then PLEASE contact me ASAP. amandadcompton AT gmail.com Replace AT with @ when composing the email to me. Kindergarten: Penis Grabbing
Penis grabbing, I know, what a way to get your attention but read on it's the truth... Kindergarten is supposed to be a time of fun and new learning experiences. But that isn't always what we get. I haven't come across a lot of posts about bullying/fighting in the blogs I read so I don't know if this is very common or others are choosing not to address these situations in such a public way. To me, talking about these real issues here is the only way I can sort through my feelings and judge whether I'm overreacting or not. I brought this touchy subject up again because today on our way home from picking up our son from school he told us a little boy in his class grabbed him by the crotch. He proceeded to say that he tried to tell the teacher but she wasn't listening to him so he hit the kid back. I seriously don't know what to make of this. Hearing this angers me immensely because the little boy touched him in a way that no kindergarten age child should be touched. Kids just don't go around grabbing other kid's private parts. At least they didn't when I was a kid and I've never heard of it until now. Seriously, if a little boy had done this to a little girl there would be some serious repercussions but is it the same with a boy? Maybe it's harmless boys will boys stuff to some people but it's not that way to me. I think it's downright ridiculous that another child would even think of doing this. Where is the child learning it and why is he doing it to other kids? I will find out tomorrow. My biggest issue with this whole thing is that nothing seems to work. What I mean is that various things have happened since the beginning of the school year and nothing has been stopped. Should I just get used to the fact that someone just may hit my son everyday? Is this normal? Is everyone experiencing this or are we just in a school that really sucks? We have repeatedly discussed this topic with our son and the teacher. I'm not the kind of parent who will shrug this kind of stuff off and act like it's no big deal. If my son says someone hit him, touched him inappropriately, aggravated him or jumped on him you can guarantee that I will be in school the next morning addressing it. The kicker here is that our son has literally been brainwashed by the school. So basically what we tell him to do doesn't matter because he believes that what the teacher says is more important. We have told FB that what Mommy & Daddy says is always more important no matter what anyone else says. But when FB gets to school we are not there so guess whose words hold more weight? NOT OURS!!!! In the end this may very well be something quite harmless but obviously a lesson is to be learned. Children should not be touching each other inappropriately and against their will. It's not funny, it's not a boys will be boys thing and it shouldn't be taken lightly. The only time I will think it's funny (maybe-ask me in 10 years) is when my son is about 18 and it's mutual and we hope it's a girl doing the penis grabbing. Sorry, guys! So tell me about your kindergarten horror stories whether it be about bullies, germs, lice, bad teachers, or the moms that ignore you. I prefer knowing that I'm not alone. Well, don't we all or do we if it's bad? Labels: kindergarten

This is Why We Call Him Baby Picasso
Our youngest son is now 3 years & 2 months old and for as long as I can remember he's been drawing on himself, drawing on him self some more , drawing on my collectibles (AKA my junk) or oh, just about anything including the walls. Nowadays he's pretty content with drawing on his Lightning McQueen Magna Doodle or in coloring books. And, I've got to say that he has turned into quite the budding artist. Behold, baby Picasso's latest masterpieces... Patrick Star from Sponge Bob Squarepants Bub the Cat from his Nanny & Papaw's House So, what do ya think? Will we be seeing his drawings in museums or what? ;) Labels: baby picasso, drawing, motherhood
Kindergarten = Sick
Apparently Future Bam wasn't tormented by enough germs and illnesses when he was younger so he's paying for it all now in kindergarten. I guess this is what happens when your child has never attended daycare or preschool. Today makes the 3rd day that FB has missed school this month due to some kind of sickness. We've went from upper respiratory infection to a rash(the verdict is out on whether it was truly poison ivy or excema but it was BAD) to a fever & swollen tonsils in a 3 week period. Maybe FB needs a bubble??? I'm off to invest in some vitamin C and echinacea before the flu season starts otherwise we really might run into some trouble. If you have a child in kindergarten have they gotten sick yet? Is echinacea a wonder herb? Help, I don't want another sick Monday. Labels: kindergarten, motherhood, sick

My WAHM Uniform: Like You Really Care
But I'm going to share anyway because Chele of Good Birth Control Blog tagged me for the WAHM Uniform Meme and I'm nice so I'll play along. So here it is folks. This is what I usually look like everyday while I work away at my computer or on the couch with my laptop. If you've seen my WORK AT HOME Video ( and quite a few people have since it was featured on Problogger. Heck, if I would have known it was going to be featured there I might have showered and put on some lipstick! LOL) then you already know what I normally look like ;) I'm a casual kind of girl. Comfort matters the most to me. Most of the time I wear my hair up, minimal(if any) makeup, jeans and some kind of graphic tee. And I'm already rockin' the Halloween coffee cups! Yay for Fall & Halloween. Can you tell I'm excited? P.S. A new blog post will be up later today with the winners of the previous 2 contests here at the ContestForMoms.com Petite Mommy blog with more on the way! What I Get To Hear All Day
Our 3 year old has recently taken up saying three phrases quite often. First of all he has some sort of obsession with curse (bad) words so he goes around saying all day, "Is that a bad word?" while saying words that are very similar to bad words but not actually saying the "bad" words. I get to hear this about a bajillion times in one day. Aren't I so lucky? Up next is , "NO never!" except that instead of saying never he says "nevah". And, he likes to point at you or whoever is the one being told no! It's quite funny actually. Well, it's funny to Hot Daddy and I. I realize it's not that funny to everyone else. And his latest thing is saying, "It's lookin' saucy". WTF? I actually have no idea where that came from but who cares it's funny right? My life is a constant comedy, I know. Umm, OK, I lied... Today is Friday And It's My Day To Do What I Want
Oh how I wish! Today is Friday and I've got a sick little boy with the croop! BTW, the lyrics in the title belong to my 3 year old's current favorite song. We are listening to the song as I type. Can anyone guess what the song is? Anyone???? So, while we are on the subject, if hypothetically you could do anything you wanted today what would it be? Me, I'd want to be sitting on a warm beach with my toes in the sand making sand castles with my boys! And, I'd make sure someone was there to cater to our every want and need. Yeah, I'm gettin' a little selfish but a girl can dream right? Labels: Friday, motherhood
The Boy Looking Way Cute
While playing outside in the fall-like weather yesterday, I took about a billion pictures of the 3 year old. This one is my favorite... Labels: 3 year old son, cute

Maybe A Bad Parenting Law Is Needed?
Wouldn't it be great if a bad parenting law existed? For instance, if a child bully's another child at school and nothing can be done to make the child stop bullying then why not punish the parent. Ultimately, it is the parent's responsibility to make sure their child behaves appropriately and stops the bad behavior when told. If the parent doesn't do anything and the child's behavior doesn't change then how about putting the parent in jail for a day or two? Now I know this hypothetical situation sounds a little extreme but come on it would be motivation to get your child to start doing the right thing wouldn't it? I am so sick of all the bad/crazy parents out there... I should have home schooled... Labels: bad parents, school
I Need 4 Tickets To Disney World, Pronto
And can you make them free please? A couple nights ago I was showing our 3 year old pictures of Disney World on the computer. Specifically we were looking for Disney Cars photos and came across Lightning McQueen at Disney World on flickr here. He nearly flipped over this photo and talked about going to Disney World until he fell asleep. Yesterday morning he woke up thinking that we were going to Disney World instead of dropping his brother off at school. Needless to say he was pretty upset when he found out we were in fact NOT going to Disney World. I'm thinking that pretty upset doesn't even begin to describe how upset he actually was which in turn made me feel guilty. Why do us Moms always feel this way? Anyway, we are now planning a vacation to Disney World on our son's spring break next year around March or April of 2008. Does anyone have any information on discounts or ways to save money, the best times to go, etc? From what I have looked at so far it looks to be quite expensive and it also looks like we are going to be driving 13 1/2 hours to get there. Ugh! Labels: disney cars, disney world, lightning mcqueen
Is Blogging Losing It's Cool Factor?
It's seems as though the blogging fad (arguably a fad or strategy?) is slowing down. I know more and more people are blogging now compared to last year but the commenting and passionate blogging every day for many mom bloggers has slowed down. Maybe it's just my perception of things but I think that some bloggers have gone in different directions online as a result of their blogging and others have just slowed down or even quit completely. I've also noticed that a lot of bloggers are no longer commenting anymore. Or at least the commenting has slowed quite a bit. However, I know people are still reading. Anyone else noticed this in the blogosphere lately? It's just nice to see the comments and reading match up better. But I can't say much since I'm guilty of this too but I will say that I am trying to read a couple new blogs everyday just for fun. So, what's really going on? Has the mommy blogging lost it's cool or are we entering an entirely new phase? P.S. For those of you who read about the Full Time Work At Home Mom Report that I blogged about a few days ago, I wanted to let you know that Carrie is only selling 100 of these books so if you want one you better get it soon. They are selling fast and it's a terrific resource for those that want to learn how to begin working at home full time. And, if you haven't heard go read about the latest Mattel Geo Trax recall if you have these train toys at home. As usual we do. Ack! I'm so sick of all these recalls. Anyone know of a good cave for sale? ;) Labels: blogging, mommy bloggers, toy recall
This Happens Every Soccer Season
Every Soccer season we go through the same routine of meeting new coaches, new kids and new parents...And, every year after we go through all of this Hot Daddy and I contemplate moving out of town. Here's a post from last year around Soccer time. I don't know if we are crazy or what. Is it the town or is it the people? Maybe I should say normal parents. Wait, do normal and parent even belong in the same freakin' sentence? Is there such a place where there are so-called normal people? I think not. Heck, I'm not even really sure I know what normal is anymore? I'm just tired of all the if-you-don't-agree-with-everything-that-I-do-then-I-don't-like-you shit? Geez, we're grown ups! We are not supposed to be acting like this. Why not try being "good" for a change? Labels: crazy parents, motherhood
