Things To Ponder Today

It feels like Monday yet it's already Tuesday. I have a million and one things going on from perceived family crisis to excessive work (most of which I brought on myself through over scheduling) so for today's long overdue post I'm just putting some questions out there...just thinking.

1.) As we get older are we all destined for unhappiness? It just seems like everyone around me is unhappy for some reason or another rather it be due to not keeping up with their friends & neighbors money/material-wise, not happy with who they are with, or not happy for reasons unknown to me.

2.) For those of us that actually think we are happy, are we in denial? Or do those that are unhappy just want us to think that?

3.) Those of you that truly feel happy and content with your present life and accept who you are, would you describe yourself as very religious or not religious at all? And, how open-minded are you?

Back to regularly scheduled mommy blogging shortly - complete with cute pictures but for now I'd really like to hear your honest answers to these questions.

*I couldn't resist sharing at least one new photo of my cute little guy! Isn't he adorable?
Posing again...

Interesting thought since I just posted similar question on a forum yesterday about this topic! Personally, I am VERY happy with my life-it is a comfortable life and I do not have that desire to keep up with the Jones's so it keeps my life in perspective. I am NOT happy with the direction the country is going in though which takes away some of my happiness. I am sometimes fearful of the future for my daughter, again that keeps me from being truly happy and carefree. I try my best to see the good in life and good in people-which is challenging these days when you live in a state that is filled with greed an corruption. But I do have to admit to being a little "crankier" as I get older! But my daughter brings me back to what I should be feeling! Cannot wait to read the other responses!

I am generally happy. I have an amazing husband, wonderful kids, and probably the best job in the world. Yes, I am religious--or rather better called, spiritual. And I would consider myself very open-minded. Is everything grand? No, there is sometimes not enough money and never enough time and life with teens--well, that says it all! BUT I really try to remain grateful for my many blessings...and not take my life for granted.

I'm generally happy with my life, too, although I do find I have a lot of stress -- again, brought on as you said, mainly by my own over-achievement.

I don't care about keeping up with the Joneses, but I do feel like I want to be involved in my kids' lives. And I agree to do way too much.

That gets me stressed when I can't have an afternoon to just do nothing.

I look at happiness a little different than some people I think. Happiness tends to be a fleeting emotion. In general with the state of my life I would consider it "content and fulfilled." When I think of saying that I am "happy" with my life, it seems a little superficial. I imagine happy being more of a short-term emotion and contentment and satisfaction with respect to the overall picture. I do not really consider myself a religious person - although I do have beliefs - I do not feel that they factor into the satisfaction I feel with my life.
