His 5th Birthday

My baby turned 5 years old this weekend. He had a great day despite nearly knocking out one of his front teeth the morning of his party.

Normally our birthday party cakes are bought at the bakery but this year we decided to make our own so that we could control the ingredients . I made this "Transformers-themed" cake, and was actually very proud of myself.

That is until I saw what Leslie made for her daughter's 5th birthday. Who else thinks Leslie should go into the cake decorating business? :)

Dyslexia Too???

Yesterday my almost 5 year old came to me and said, "Look Mommy, I wrote my numbers". Here's what he showed me:

I wrote the correct numbers above his numbers to show him how they should have looked. He wrote numbers 5,6, 8 & 9 correctly. And, now I'm worried that he is dyslexic. I looked up some of the signs of dyslexia. It seems as if he does exhibit a few of those signs but you know what? So Do I. Maybe I'm dyslexic. Maybe Google is turning us all into hypochondriacs.

It's possible that he is just learning how to write, right? Should I be worried?

Finally Feels Like Summer Around Here

At The Pool Yesterday
We spent the day in our pool yesterday. This was our first truly hot and humid Summer day (yes, I know it isn't "officially" Summer yet) . As always, a day with the fam is a fun adventure. For instance, the husband thought he touched something dead at the bottom of the deep end of the pool and nearly freaked out. Turns out it was just a chair that had blown in the pool during one of our many recent storms. Ha!

In other news, I need a new bathing suit. Yesterday I realized my favorite black VS bikini was starting to snag, and now it looks like total crap. I guess that should be expected since I've been wearing this bikini for nearly 3 years now. So, Victoria's Secret here I come. Should I stick with a solid color or go with something bright & cute?

*By the way, Father's Day is coming up in less than a day and we are giving away a $25 gift card to Outback Steakhouse! Leave a comment on the Father's Day Gift Certificate post on A Mom's Review and you may win it!

Robert Pattinson Hit By Cab

Oh Jeez. You would have thought we were being invaded by aliens or something. But, no, Mr. Vampire himself was just "grazed" by a cab. AND. THE. WORLD. HAS. GONE. HYSTERICAL. BECAUSE. OF. IT. What? Me too? Nah.

You may have noticed that I may or may not have a teeny tiny obsession with Robert Pattinson ( AKA the future sexiest man alive and my pretend boyfriend)

Anyway..let's get on with the gossip as that is why you are here right?

So FoxNews and Radar is reporting that Rob Pattinson has been hit by a cab while filming his new movie Remember Me in New York City. Rumor has it that he was trying to run away from a ton of crazed Twilight fans.

Guys and Twi-haters don't celebrate just yet though (heh)... as Pattinson was reportedly not hurt. And, Ladies.. you can all let out a huge sigh of relief now. The guy is fine and apparently things were exaggerated. Continue on with your crazy attacks. What? It's not like they want to kill him or anything? We all know what they want. The guy should be thrilled, right? But..no...the (totally hot) goofball goes and gets himself hit. I blame the sparkles. ;)

Unconventional Fun: AKA My Boy In A Fairy Costume

Childhood is such unconventional fun. One moment you are dressed as a fairy playing in a magical land. Next you are off somewhere battling transformers.

Sometimes you are playing with Transformers dressed as a fairy.

Snark Is Not My StrongSuit Nor Do I Want To Be known For It

*Edited to Add* I just deleted the post. NOT. WORTH. THE. HEADACHE.

I could go back and retract the post that I wrote 2 days ago but being the "big girl" that I am, I won't. I feel like it needs to remain where it is to remind me that even I am not perfect (imagine that).

Getting the negative comment that I did from my previous post also reiterated what I have long thought about blogging...and is one of the many reasons why I have went back and forth on personal blogging especially since we've moved back to a small town. The problem with blogging snippets of your life is that your thoughts are often misconstrued. They don't always come out the way you truly mean them, and they are always open to interpretation based on the other person's feelings. If I were posting anonymously it simply wouldn't matter what I wrote but in a small town where someone may simply not "get" blogging I guess ultimately it does matter. I wrote a little about this issue back in January

Obviously you can't be more blatant than I was in my last post. I was being general but at the same time I was being stereotypical. I knew that going in. Actually, my previous post stemmed from a few incidents that happened weeks ago. And, I purposely generalized my feelings so that no one would know who or what I was referring to. Obviously you and I both know that everyone is NOT like what I wrote. It was just a way for me to vent...a way for me to get my feelings out there. Because I can't say it in real life. Anyway, I am allowed to do that here. And, what I feel and write won't always please everyone.

If you've ever read past the first page of this blog you'd know that my last post was out of character. I'm not a bitch. I'm not a hater. I'm not holier than thou. I just blurted something out. We are all guilty of that.

Of course I did mention this one thing where I said I hope the ice cream man gets the swine flu. That of course was another attempt at snark and sarcasm...which apparently doesn't work in my favor. ;)

P.S. I heart my real neighbors but I think they know that already. ;)

P.S.S Despite my previous slip, I really do love my home. More importantly, I love that my children and my husband love our home, our community. I couldn't be happier. Who am I kidding? I could be happier if I lived on the beach and had a maid + a personal chef. ;) No one's going to argue with that one, right?

P.S.S.S Don't you just hate it when someone else is right? Thanks for pushing me off of my high horse. ;)
