The kids and I help pick up garbage left on our road/lawns and the empty lots in our neighborhood. We also help other families in need after medical and financial difficulties. We don’t have a lot, but we have our hands and a servant’s heart and it means a lot to those that we help and to us.

To help save the planet, my daughter and I take our own canvas shopping bags with us to the shopping center. By doing this, we reduce the usage of plastic shopping bags which can take up to 100 years for our beautiful earth to break down!!! Very very sad =(

  5. PATRICIA BRIONES on August 12th, 2010 11:15 am

They way my kids,my husband and I help this beautiful home we call, Earth is we recycle everything! i have a special fenced in area in my backyard where we throw out uneaten food or bananna peels to decompose. we also take a little vacation to the beach for a week to pick up trash, we make a day out of it and when we have finished picking for the day we set up a tent and camp out on the beach, it’s sooo relaxing! another thing we do is when we go shopping we try not to buy things that aren’t biodegradable that way we cut down on how much trash we have… :)

  6. Madonna Cramer on August 12th, 2010 11:33 am

We are recycling the things we throw away by taking them to the recycling center in our town (we don’t have curbside recycling) We also reuse things such as clothing books and toys by buying them used and then using them gently and passing them on again.

Saving the planet, eh? For years we’ve been recycling and reusing all we can with everything. Tear out an old wooden deck use the wood for things in the yard, keep boxes from items received in the mail to use for things we send in the mail. I know some people wonder why,it not only saves on purchases of new things it keeps things being recycled. Old clothing become rags for cleaning and what not. We reuse a lot! Thanks for having such a great contest!

My family recycles absolutely everything possible. My kids are encouraged to recycle the packaging of their toys and make the most use of anything possible. We do not buy bottled water, we use our own from home. We have a rain barrel and also a composte. We encourage our friends and family to do the same. Switching lights off when leaving the room, taking shorter showers, using energy efficient light bulbs. We are planning a garden to grow our own herbs and vegetables (the ones possible in Canada anyway).

cut up plastic grocery bags into long strips and they can be crocheted. Besides making a new grocery bag with them, I made a large rug for the front of my camper. it keeps the dirt out and can easily be cleaned. Hi there I am so happy I found your blog, I really found you by mistake, while I was searching on Google for something else, Anyways I am here now and would just like to say many thanks for a tremendous post and a all round thrilling blog (I also love the theme/design), I don’t have time to look over it all at the minute but I have saved it and also included your RSS feeds, so when I have time I will be back to read a lot more, Please do keep up the fantastic job.
