I decided to try so many different ways,
I changed most of my light bulbs in my home to energy saving ones.
I use Eco friendly cleaning products.
I cut back on the use of plastic, and make sure I recycle my monthly papers. I’ve got my children involved in the cause. Together we take weekly walks and carry reusable bags I purchased to pick up garbage. Its not about winning for me, its about knowing together everyone is taking steps to making this world a healthier place for EVERYONE! Congrats everyone, keep it up!

  10. Vauna on May 12th, 2009 10:04 pm

For years, against my childrens’ protests, I’ve taken an extra large purse to hold my own plastic dish when we go out to eat. I then take home the leftovers. It not only saves on the disposable styrofoam containers, but we also come up with something to ‘recycle’ the leftovers! The kids got to where they say, “Oh goody, leftovers!”

  11. Stephanie G. on May 13th, 2009 2:10 am

There is many small things I do now, but 2 of the biggest is bringing my own bags to stores for shopping to reduce plastic waste, and have started my own herb/vegetable garden. I am really enjoying doing both!

Besides creating a website for Christians that want to be green, I have also been reusing and recycling a lot more. It has required creativity I did not know I had, but I have more ideas than I realized! I have even come up with ideas to make Chinese Takeout Greener!!!

I have done all the things your post says to earn points…

    - Followed on Twitter @GreenChristian
    - Added this comment and one for Petite Mommy Blog
    - Added your link to my site (greenchristiannetwork.com) under “green friends” heading.

I tried to add a comment to the buzz link you mentioned above, but it says page not there??

I have been married for thirty-five years now. My darling husband and I were green before it became fashionable.

It is easy to make your life greener – we recycle, have our house powered by solar, take our water from our own well and we grow our own food. People do not realize that growing your own food saves in lots of different ways including but not limited to saving the fuel it take to process and transport the fruits and vegetables – also it is so much healthier for your family. We plan our week so that we only have to drive into town once a week.

The best part of always having been a green family is that we naturally passed our philosophy and techniques on to our sons. Both of them have never known any different! They are green, and don’t even realize it. It is very rewarding to go to their house and see them live their lives, leaving a smaller footprint on the planet.

I really LOVE the Clorox Greenworks products – we already use several and would love to win some. We already recycle and have switched to high efficiency light bulbs, and turn them off when we are not in the room. We have cut WAY down on the A/C use (really tough here in FL), plus we don’t use our dishwasher unless we have company.

  107. Samantha Aluse on May 20th, 2009 3:18 pm

We have gone green in tons of ways – from composting to changing all of our bulbs. This weekend we are going to the local recycling center to buy our mulch. Perfect because we give them tons of branches in the fall and they sell us mulch every spring! I love the Scott Naturals products since they don’t seem to have any impact on my daughter’s asthma and could certainly use some more!
