5 Fun, Free & Green St. Patrick’s Day Activity Ideas for Kids
With St. Patrick’s Day coming up we decided to list 5 fun & free activity ideas for the kids. Enjoy! If you have some great ideas that we missed feel free to add to this list in the comments.
1. Green Art Collage - go through magazines, catalogs, or even look online for things you can color green. Look for green ribbons, green fabric scraps, stickers, and similar things to create your collage. Glue them all on cardboard or thick construction paper.
2. Green Food - There are so many things you can do with green food coloring. Here are a few we recommend. Green eggs -scrambled or boiled, green mashed potatoes, green macaroni, green popcorn. You can also do a green salad with only green vegetables and green dressing. How about green jello or green koolaid? Let your kids help with these easy meals.
3. Scavenger/Treasure Hunt - First make a trail of small footprints out of something green such as construction paper then hide treasures in various places. If it’s warm do the scavenger hunt outside so the kids can get in some physical activity too. You can hide coins, candy coins, candy, or small toys for them to find from the Leprechaun.
4. Grow Shamrocks - Find a clover plant or get some clover seeds & soil then plant them in small paper cups.
5. Build Leprechaun traps & houses - When I was a child I remember taking a shoebox and making a trap to catch the leprechaun on St. Patrick’s Day. I never caught it but I had so much fun creating my house. There are a ton of ideas on how to create your trap/house in the links below:
