5 Ways To Save Money on Breakfast For Your Family
Most of us are looking for ways to save money right now. Today I thought I would share how we save money on breakfast. Most health experts say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and I would have to agree so this meal is not the one you want to cut back on. Here are some money-saving ideas to get you started. I hope these are helpful.
1. Don’t eat out for breakfast. This can really add up each week. Eating breakfast at home is much cheaper not to mention healthier.
2. Stop eating cereal. Have you noticed the price of cereal these days? A small box of name-brand cereal is nearly $4 or more. If cereal is a must-have for you, eat it once or twice a week and only buy generic or buy with coupons.
3. Make and drink your coffee at home. Buying a cup of coffee each morning adds up to nearly $300 per year. I can think of other ways to spend my $300. I’m sure you can too.
4. Eat eggs. Eggs are cheap and an excellent source of protein. Eating an egg or egg whites every morning keeps you full until lunch time. Plus eggs can be cooked a variety of ways and kids love them!
5. Go meatless. It’s no secret that meat is often the most expensive part of the meal so make muffins instead. You can make muffins from scratch or if you are short on time make those $0.49 cent boxes of muffins where you just add water and an egg and your muffins are ready in about 15 minutes. I like to make a couple different batches at a time for my kids like chocolate or banana nut. We keep the leftovers for snacks.
Got some frugal breakfast ideas? I’d love to hear them in the comments. We just may feature them here in another segment if we get enough ideas.

I make and freeze egg McMuffins. Whenever English muffins are on sale for a dollar or less I buy eggs and do up a few packages. I put cheddar on top, as well as bacon, ham or tofu breakfast sausage. I just stick them all back in the English muffin bags and freeze. They are perfect after 1min in the microwave. Yummy! Great for a quick lunch too.
Great tips.
I save $1.40 a day now, as I have coffee at home, rather than hitting the drive-thru.
Another idea is to use up any fruit that may be starting to go “mushy” (bananas and strawberries) and make smoothies. Kids won’t touch mush berries, but in a smoothie, no one need to know !
