Valentine’s Day Crayon and Wax Paper Hearts Craft

waxpaperheartsmobileEvery February we try to come up with a new Valentine’ Day crafts to make. Last year we made the Valentine’s Construction Paper Flower craft and the year before that we made a Paper Heart Name craft.

This year I wanted to get away from construction paper and try something a bit different but still easy so we used wax paper and crayons. We ended up making wax paper hearts. Then we hung the hearts as a mobile.

Easy Rudolph & Clarice Paper Plate Craft

Our 7 year old son became slightly obsessed with the Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer characters after seeing my sister’s ornament collection. Once we came home from Thanksgiving break, our son decided he wanted to make each character with paper. We decided on paper plates and construction paper. We ended up creating many of the characters from the cartoon. Rudolph and Clarice (a cute doe that befriends Rudolph in the classic Christmas TV show) were among the cutest and most popular so we decided to share how to make them here. This makes a cute Christmas decoration and if your kids loves this show then they will love this simple craft! You could also use this craft (with slight variations) for a homeschool unit study on reindeer.

Simple Valentine’s Day Craft: Felt Heart & Yarn Garland

feltheartg2While browsing the web looking for Valentine’s Day decorations I came across some super cute heart garlands that I loved but didn’t want to spend the money on. So I decided that I’d search for ideas on how to make my own garland and ended up  going with a felt heart garland similar to the ones I found here and here. Granted, I’m not a crafter or seamstress plus I don’t own a sewing machine and  I barely know anything about craft supplies. Basically my knowledge of craftiness lies in construction paper, crayons, and paper plates but I decided to make a go of it anyway.
