Twelve Top FREE iPhone/iTouch Apps for Kids According To My 6 YR Old

6yroldwithiphoneOur youngest son fell in love with the iPhone as soon as he realized he could do so many things with it. He got an iPhone for his 6th birthday (yeah, I know that’s a young age for such an expensive gift but it’s really no different than a Leapster, Nintendo DS, Xbox, or Playstation). A few months later his iPhone was stolen at the beach. He was heartbroken so we surprised him with the newest Apple iPod touch (most similar to the iPhone) this past Christmas.

We’ve been trying out and playing with lots of cool applications as of late so we wanted to share our 6 year old son’s current all time favorite completely FREE apps for kids ages 5 and up with you. We started out with his list of five then went to ten and now we have twelve. Six year olds are a bit indecisive. ;)

1. Facetime - Allows you to video chat with other facetime users. He loves to call his cousins who lives hours away. Comes installed on the newest iPod touch and iPhone 4.

2. Doodle Buddy - With this artsy application you can doodle, draw, decorate your photos, and design many things.  This app keeps kids busy for a while.

3. Bounce On - Who doesn’t like playing with balls? Mario inspired game but with balls as the character :)

September,October, & November ‘10 Winners

First off I’d like to apologize for my lack of updates as of late and for being very behind in posting our recent free baby photo contest winners. However, I do have a life outside of this website which includes homeschooling 2 kids ( one of which is chronically ill), 3 other websites, and an offline start-up photography biz that has kept me quite busy these past 2 months. I’ll share some portraits from our sessions in another post so you can see how busy my husband and I have been.  Again, I am sorry and my hope is that I do not fall this far behind again. :)

The September, October, and November winners will be included in this post. Thanks so much for your patience and understanding as I catch up.

andthencomeshalloween

I love walking into bookstores and libraries around Halloween season just to see all the new choices of Halloween books there are for kids.

Each year one of our Halloween traditions is to purchase 1 or 2 new Halloween books to add to our growing collection that we bring out at the beginning of October.

Here are some of our new favorites that we recently reviewed over at A Mom’s Review. You can read our full review and recommendations over there.
