Five Fun & Cheap Ways To Cool The Kids Off This Summer

forswimartAs soon as Summer and the hot weather hits, everyone - especially kids are looking for ways to cool off. Beat the heat with these five fun ways to keep your kids cooled off without breaking the bank.

1. Lawn Sprinkler - Have a sprinkler to water your lawn? It makes a great makeshift sprinkler for the kids. Chances are you already have one lying around which means you don’t have to buy anything.

2. Water Balloons - You can buy a big bag of water balloons at your local Dollar General or Dollar Tree store for only $1. These balloons are so much fun for the kids. Just make sure you help your kids clean up the busted balloons once your done.

3. Buckets - Most people have buckets or totes lying around. Fill them up and go for a soak in your little bucket. I know this sounds redneck-ish but believe me it’s so much fun. Our little boys did this one year and had a blast. Note: Please supervise your children when they are playing in the buckets.

4. Water Toys - There are plenty of low-cost water toys to be had at your local Wal-Mart or Target.

Here are a few: (BTW, we haven’t tried either of these we just think they look fun)

This Beach Ball sprinkler from Walmart looks fun Only $11.97

Banzai 3-D Shark Bite Water Slide from Walmart  Only $22

5. Community Pool - Even though the local public pool is not the most convenient place to take your kids, and it’s often over-crowded sometimes you just have to take them anyway. Your kids can cool off in the pool for a fairly cheap entrance fee.

If you have some fun ideas on keeping your kids cool during the Summer months I hope you’ll share them with me in the comments section.
