How To Get Free Food & Meals
With the the rising cost of food in a tough economy it’s no wonder that people are doing everything they can to get things either for free or nearly free. Here at ContestforMoms we’ve put together a list of ways to get food and meals for free.
1. Sign up for freebies and free coupons for free stuff. These past 2 months I have received a coupon for a free package of hot dogs, 3 candy bars, a panini, free containers of cookies, and a free KFC meal. Want to know where these freebies are listed. We’ve already covered Where To Find The Best Freebies Here
2. Eat at someone else’s house. I know this is simple but it works. You can get a free meal at least once a week if you go to your parents/grandparents home or maybe even a friends home for a dinner party.
3. Use coupons at grocery stores during sales & double coupon days. You would be surprised to learn how much you can get for free when you clip coupons, wait for an item to go on sale, and use the coupon on a double/triple coupon day. You could come home with several free food items.
4. Attend local free events. Churches, birthday parties, festivals, holiday get-togethers, and community gatherings usually serve free food. My advice is to go in with an open mind and don’t be picky.
5. Summer Food programs for children. Many states and schools offer a food program during the Summer for school kids to get free lunches. Check to see if something like this is available in your area.
6. Grow a garden. You will have plenty of food if you grow a garden. Sure, it takes some money and you have to invest time but the end result will be worth it. You can sell or can your excess food. Learn how to can food here.
7. Hunt & Fish. This is a great way to get free meat. Yes, again, there is a cost involved in getting started but it is worth it in the long run. Now, I’m not saying this is for everyone but it will work for some.
8. Eat out on your birthday. Most restaurants give you a free meal or treat on your birthday. We recommend this resource for a list of restaurants and current freebies - Mommy Savers Birthday List & Mr CheapStuff birthday list
