How To Save Money On Back To School Supplies
View All Back To School Tips & Info For Parents
Back To School time is here! For parents it’s a time to dole out the cash for supplies, clothes, and more. Here are five tips on how you can save money on back to school supplies!
1. Price Matching. Stores everywhere are having some great sales since its back to school time! One store has paper for a penny and the other store has crayons for 20 cents. What to do? A great way to save time and money is to bring your local sales papers along with you and price match. Wal-mart is great about matching local competitor prices so you can get everything you need in one place for less.
2. Reuse. Things like clothes, backpacks, and lunchboxes can be reused or even regifted to another family member such as a sibling or a cousin. Each year our oldest gives his used clothing to his younger brother which means we have to buy much less clothing for him. You can even swap gently used backpacks with friends.
3. Buy Off Season. You can buy fall clothing much cheaper when its out of season. Just buy a size up during those types of sales and your child will have lots of cool clothes for a fraction of the regular cost.
4. Make Money. Have your kids earn money during the Summer to help pay for the back to school supplies they want. If they want a character backpack or those cute notebooks then have them pay for the extras with cash they earned doing odd jobs. This is something I did when I was younger to get a few extras I wanted!
5. Buy Early. Stores start putting out those very cheap items in July. If you know what you need or will need throughout the year then stock up now. I’ve still got a supply of crayons and pencils from last year’s sale.
