New Year’s Eve Traditions For Families
New Year’s Eve is a time for celebrations. Traditions are made and we continue those traditions each and every year for our kids. What are some New Year’s Eve traditions that you share with your family?
Our family gets together to eat and play card games. When it nears midnight we all go outside and watch the fireworks. This is something that I have remembered doing every year since I have been a child and I want to continue that tradition with my two boys and husband.
Some common New Years Eve and New Year’s Day Traditions are:
1.) Eating certain foods for good luck such as black-eyed peas but “good luck” in getting your kids to eat them!
2.) Watching football games such as the New Year’s Bowls
3.) Compiling a list of New Years Resolutions
4.) Sing the traditional Auld Lang Syne song
5.) Play games with your family. There are so many fun board games and video games out to choose from. Some of our family favorites are Guitar Hero, Band Hero, Squeeball Party, Monopoly, Sorry, and the I Can Do That board games.
6.) Have your kids make a list of what they want to learn and accomplish for the year. Young and older kids can participate in this. Keep their lists from year to year and bring them out every New Years Day.
7. Have a fireworks show for the family
8. Go sledding (if you have snow).
