Get Paid For Recycling/Being Green
In honor of Earth Day I’m going to share with you several sites/stores that PAY YOU for being “Green”. Isn’t that awesome? Yes, you can recycle and get paid for doing it.
The following stores or websites offers customers money or store gift cards in exchange for old electronics, phones, gadgets, games, and more. I’ll be highlighting the stores and their programs below as well as providing links to the programs online.
Tip!!! I also wanted to share that I typed in information about an old camera I had lying around and was offered $15. Granted, it’s not a whole lot but its better than nothing especially if I’m never going to use it again. Plus I’m helping our Earth in the process and there’s no price tag on that! Of course there also instances when you’re better off selling your item on Ebay for much more money. For example, I typed in Little Big Planet for Ps3 and was offered around $13. I could sell it for around $30+ on Ebay.
Walmart: You can trade in your old cell phones, cameras, and more in exchange for prepaid VISA cards that can be used at Walmart stores or Walmart online. Walmart will even give you a quote online about the item you want to trade in. This program is powered by Gazelle.
Target: Target’s program is similar to the Walmart program. Target has partnered with Nextworth so that you can trade in your electronics, DVDs & video games such as Xbox, Ps3 and more. Once you trade your items in you will be given a Target gift card to use in stores or Target online.
Best Buy: Best Buy also has a trade in program powered by Deal Tree! The Best Buy program is a little different in that it requires you to have previously purchased the item from Best Buy. They recycle iphones, computers, cameras, etc. See their site for full product list. Once you trade in your items you will be given a gift card or check.
Gamestop: Gamestop has been offering trade-ins for as long as I can remember and they generally offer you more money than most stores. You can trade in video games and game systems. GameStop also has various promotions running with trade-ins! You will need to visit your local Gamestop to trade in your products.
Staples: Staples has an eco-easy program with the main focus being in printers and ink cartridges. You get $3 rewards for every ink or toner cartridge you bring in. However, you do not get money for electronics/computers. You can just bring them in and dispose of them for free. This would be great for your really old stuff that you need to get rid of but if you have a newer item I’d suggest you take it elsewhere preferrably Target or Walmart.
Costco: Costco also has a trade-in program powered by Gazelle which is the same as Walmarts program. If you are a Costco shopper then this is the way to go because you are saving both time and money by recycling at the store you shop at.
Gazelle: If you don’t want to go through any of the superstores above then we suggest you go directly through Gazelle online. It’s a great program!
Ebay: For years now Ebay has been the place to unload all your extra junk for money, and it still is one of the best places out there to sell your old stuff!
Swagbucks: Swagbucks most notably known for earning bucks to buy things online also has a trade in program powered by both FlipSwap and SwapVideoGames.com. For more information on this program you will need to visit the Swagbucks website.
If you know of any websites or stores that offer a similar program I’d love to hear about them in the comments section! Happy recycling! Happy Earth Day too!
