What
Causes Baby/Infant Constipation?
In infants & babies, constipation can be
caused by not enough water or poor muscle movement.
How Do I know if my baby is
constipated or What are the symptoms?
If your baby is constipated then he
or she will pass hard stools (poop), have difficulty passing all of
the stool (poop), and sometimes blood may be in the stool (poop).
Crying and pulling knees up are also other possible signs that your
baby is constipated.
How do I treat and relieve baby
constipation? How Do I Cure Baby Constipation?
Baby Constipation Cure: Breastfeed your baby. Breastmilk is
the easiest milk for your baby to digest and is less likely to even
get constipated with breastmilk. Formula fed babies are more likely
to become constipated.
Give your baby some water. Babies do
need water even if its only a few sips a day.
Give your baby a very small amount (
about 1 ounce) of prune juice mixed with about 2 ounces of water.
Things You Shouldn't do
when your baby is constipated:
do not give sugar, do not give an enema, do
not give laxatives.
