This Is What A WAHM's Home Looks Like

Working from home with kids at home during work hours usually results in this... Well, who am I kidding? -ALWAYS results in this. And, the mess you see in the photo is mild compared to most days.

Christmas isn't here yet(it's close -7 days!) but I've already started thinking about the New Year. Have you?

My WAHM Uniform: Like You Really Care

But I'm going to share anyway because Chele of Good Birth Control Blog tagged me for the WAHM Uniform Meme and I'm nice so I'll play along.

So here it is folks. This is what I usually look like everyday while I work away at my computer or on the couch with my laptop. If you've seen my WORK AT HOME Video (and quite a few people have since it was featured on Problogger. Heck, if I would have known it was going to be featured there I might have showered and put on some lipstick! LOL) then you already know what I normally look like ;)

I'm a casual kind of girl. Comfort matters the most to me. Most of the time I wear my hair up, minimal(if any) makeup, jeans and some kind of graphic tee. And I'm already rockin' the Halloween coffee cups! Yay for Fall & Halloween. Can you tell I'm excited?

P.S. A new blog post will be up later today with the winners of the previous 2 contests here at the ContestForMoms.com Petite Mommy blog with more on the way! Check out the redesign and new logo on our main page here, ContestForMoms.com

Do You Want To Be a Full Time Work At Home Mom?

As most of you know I've been a work at home mom for 4 years now. I remember back in 2003 when I first started out and didn't know what I was doing online. I had no idea how to REALLY make money so inevitably mistakes were made. But now I work from home full time and I'm continually growing my business. I know that many of you are in the same situation today that I was 4 years ago and that is why I want to tell you about the Full Time Work At Home Success Report by fellow full-time WAHM, Carrie Lauth. Carrie has put together an amazing report where she interviewed 16 full time WAHMS.

You have a chance to learn from these 16 moms and apply what you learn to your website, home business or blog to become a full-time work at home mom too.

To get started and to learn how 16 women (myself included) are earning a full time living online click here! today!

If having a home business isn't for you but you still want to work from home then check out Jobs For Stay At Home Moms where I post real work at home jobs every week!

The Work At Home Mom Video #1

Nell over at Casual Friday Everyday video'd her day as a work at home mom so I thought it would be fun to do this too and show all of you how my day goes as a work at home mom. I did the video this morning without showering or putting on makeup. Hey, it's supposed to be realistic right? :) The video is not of great quality. I don't know what happened after I uploaded it to youtube. I guess I need something better than a Kodak P850.

*Oh and if your not real sure you want to spend any extra time clicking on and watching the video, might I suggest a bonus to make you want to watch is my Southern hillbilly(Appalachian) accent. ;) There are also 2 posts up here today. The latest one explaining my last post.

I Got A Sunburn While Working Today

Spring has sprung full force here in Southeastern KY. We are spending some time at the in-laws while the husband recovers. The in-laws have a huge yard in the middle of nowhere so it's great for us. Our two boys have played outside while I have worked on the sundeck with my laptop, and while I perused blogs today. They are still going strong as I write.

I can't explain this great feeling of being able to work outside in the warm sun while the boys are splashing in the mud and throwing balls only a few feet away. Being able to be a mother and working at the same time doing something I truly love can't accurately be described the way I would really like to do it. My kids like this arrangement. I like this arrangement so it works for us.

I'm gonna send you on over to Rebecca's post over at Babble.com with a similar topic after I share with you an excerpt here from her post that I identify with so deeply.

"Concentrated on the two things in her life that will never be less than inspired and inspiring: her child and her craft-- working and creating and mothering all at once. Because she has to".

Thanks Rebecca, also of Girls Gone Child, for your inspiring and realistic writing.

A Time To Work, A Time To Play

We left home yesterday evening for an extended weekend break. That's one of the perks of working from home. You can take a break at any time and play whenever you want. But then you have to work at unusual times like, let's say, Friday nights. Luckily, it's not for long and I can go on and enjoy the rest of my night as soon as I'm done here.

I wanted to do a quick update and tell everyone about the incredible response to our contest. We have 7 or 8 sponsors already, all offering fabulous prizes. I sure hope your ready to enter. The contest page, prize packages, sponsors, and official rules will be up by the end of the weekend. Please spread the word about this contest on your site or blog and even tell your neighbors, family & friends!

Is At Home Motherhood Isolating?

Why is it that I am just now realizing that being a stay at home mom/work at home mom is both isolating and sometimes monotonous?

While I simply LOVE being able to work from home I don't have the interaction with adults that I did when I worked out of the home. And, while I wouldn't trade working from home I sure could use some more adult interaction during my day.

I've found that online friendships are good especially for one's sanity when you are at home day in and day out with two kids but real life human interaction cannot be replaced. And, to be honest I never felt isolated until we moved away from family and friends. So maybe it's not so much that motherhood is specifically making me feel isolated but the fact that I still havent made one single new friend here that has stuck. I've met moms but real friendships have not blossomed.

So tell me, what works for you if you are a stay at home mom?
