Our 16 month old found a package of catnip toys that our 4.5 yr old had gotten for his cat Simba. He came running through the house with a catnip toy in his mouth and I just couldn’t resist snapping a few photos of him with this in his mouth…then I realized that it had catnip in it and that catnip may be poisonous to babies so I took it away from him.

Anyway, here is what I found out about catnip. I don’t know why I am sharing this but I thought oh well…someone else’s baby may have also played with a cat toy once or twice and they may need this information…

1.) Obviously catnip is for cats. It produces feelings of euphoria for the cats. It’s a recreational herb for cats.
2.) Catnip is used in salads sparingly.
3.) People make catnip tea for colds and other medicinal purposes.
