Bottle Relationship Over…
Bottle Relationship is over…
My son is 20 months old. Tonight he cried for a bottle (which he calls a BAH-DOO and believe me, it’s totally precious!) and I gave in and let him have one since he only occasionally asks for one.
I know some of you might be thinking, “She should have taken the bottle away from the baby at 1 year!” Well, he started the bottle at 1 year. He was breastfed before that and weaned himself at 12 months but for some reason the bottle took it’s place and I decided I would allow him to give it up when he was ready. I think that time was tonight! He put the “bah-doo” in his mouth and then said, “No!” and threw it down! After that I held him for a few minutes and he fell asleep.
This is for the best but then again it’s kind of sad. I’ll be honest and say I’m not sure if I want this relationship to end. The end of this relationship with his bottle signifies that he’s really no longer a baby. And, it’s heartbreaking for me because I’m pretty sure this is the last time I’ll ever give a bottle to a baby of my own.
How did you truly feel when your baby gave up the bottle?
