Cursing at 21 months old?

Posted by Amanda | On: Mar 31 2006

Ok, so first of all, it almost KILLED me to write the proper spelling of the word curse. Primarily because I pronounce it “cuss”. Anyway, how many of you say cuss? Is it part of my Southern dialect or is it a normal pronunciation of the word?
Anyway, I’m from the South and live in Kentucky. While I don’t normally carry all of the stereotypes of a hillbilly, I do have to admit that I have that “cute” Southern accent and I have been known to walk around barefoot while pregnant. What’s wrong with that if you have a nice clean yard? Don’t tell me you have never walked around barefoot.

Anyway, I am way off on what I was intending to talk about so on with what transpired in our household a few days ago and away from the hillbilly topic.

Baby Man and Little Man were playing in the bedroom as usual then all of a sudden Little Man started shouting saying, “Mom, brother said F**K!” “Mom, brother said F**k”!. Little Man repeated the curse word with delight about 10 times because he knew he wasn’t going to get in trouble for it. I guess you could say my 5 year old was taking advantage of the situation.

Upon closer inspection of what baby man was saying, I heard the word “truck”. Baby man was trying to say “truck” and he was actually saying it quite well. It did not sound like F**K at all. Hmmmm…
